One of many rewarding aspects of City Daily Photoblogging is the effect it has on one's perceptions. Every time I go out I see something "new." However, I suspect that many times it is not really "new" but it is only that I have just noticed it. Thus I am not really sure whether this dragon has been gracing this wall in Chinatown for a long time or has been mounted only recently, perhaps as part of the "150 Years on Golden Mountain" event celebrating the history of Chinese-Canadians in Victoria. In any case, I like it.****(added later) That little red plaque you can see near the bottom of the building reads, "Dragon Dance Mural by Robert Amos assisted by the Principal, teachers and children from the Chinese Public School to celebrate the 150th Anniversary of Canada's oldest Chinatown."****

You're so right about seeing your own city with "new eyes." And I think that's a good thing. It shakes up our perspective.
That's exactly what I feel too. Now I look at my city as if I had a pair of new eyes ...
The dragon ornament sneaking out in one window and in the other at the top picture looks great.
That was a really striking picture in the portal, I had to come and have a closer look.
I agree as well - now that I'm photographing my city, I spot all sorts of things that I otherwise probably wouldn't have ever noticed!
I know exactly what you mean! :-)
Very nice effect on the wall, glad you saw it!
Greetings
Cute idea! It would have been better if they started him at the other end of the wall and made him longer. Cool though.
You're very right about seeing the city with new eyes. One of my realizations is that it's so hard to get nice shots of buildings and houses in Metro Manila because of all the messy utility cables. =(
I am going to join the chorus.
Edmonton has an image problem, so part of the reason I entered into this hobby was counter that in my small way, but in turn it has made me realize how lucky I am to live in the stunning prarie parkland.
I love the dragon!
Me too. There are so many aspects of my city Mumbai that I am seeing with a new perspective -like buildings, hawkers, markets, shops..the list is endless.
The pic is great.
