Swallow's Landing II

Yesterday's view of Victoria was taken from the terrace visible in the upper right of this photo. This rather ungainly looking stairway leads from the West Bay Walkway to the two Swallow's Landing condominium towers. While it is not the most attractive stairway, it was designed to protect and preserve the fragile ecosystem beneath and around it known as the Matson Conservation Area, the last remaining bit of the Garry Oak Ecosystem on the shoreline surrounding Victoria's Inner Harbour. This has been preserved in perpetuity by the developer of these condominiums. It's looking a bit frowzy now but this landscape always looks its best in the spring and early summer.

Frowzy?

I thought you making this word up, til I looked it up.

In Toastmasters' meetings, we always have a 'word of the day' section. I'll have to remember this one...

Think I'd have a heart attack if I tried to go up.

I think it's beautiful, in a frowzy sort of way. Yesterday evening I was going past the Cridge senior center on my bike, the west face (where it says Orphans' Home over the entryway in stone) was bathed in dreamy sunlight and there was a solitary ancient lady with a walker sitting on the low stone wall in front. It was sooo amazing. (not so subtle location suggestion for you).
Thank you for taking such beautiful pictures of Victoria.

Thanks imquilternity.

Frowzy - I think I learnt it from my mother - I seem to remember her using it. I can't think of anyone else I ever heard using it.

JoJo - it is quite a climb but if I can make it anyone can....

Anon - Thanks for your not-so-frowzy comment. I'll take your location suggestion seriously - I've been meaning to get up that way and I know that is an interesting building.
