We can in fact only define a weed, mutatis mutandis, in terms of the well-known definition of dirt - as matter out of place. What we call a weed is in fact merely a plant growing where we do not want it.

It's a sure sign of spring. The flower really does a beautiful shade of yellow. You sure got down and low for this shot.
One person's weeds are another person's wildflowers! :-)
Dandelions are the plant world's squirrels, in my curmudgeonly opinion.
