Gorge Waterway

One of the main roadways in Esquimalt is Tillicum Road, which includes Tillicum Bridge. It crosses the Gorge Waterway and I have often wanted to stop and take pictures but am usually in too much of a rush. However, tonight I made a special trip to do this and while my timing was somewhat off due to the setting sun, I think it shows off Esquimalt-Gorge Park (Formerly Gorge-Kinsmen Park) quite nicely. For a view of the bridge this was taken from, click here. - Fern

Was just in Kinsman park a couple of weeks ago taking photos. Didn't realize that it had undergone a name change...

It looks like a mighty river or is it a lake?

Gerald, good question. It's an inlet...not a river or a lake. It looks like it could be a river in that you can see the current but that is because the bridge I'm standing on is over the Tillicum Narrows and when the tide is coming in or going out it can quite a rush of water. In fact it is the site of the only reversing rapids in western Canada. Here is a link with more information if you, or anyone is interested. - Fern http://wikimapia.org/705815/Tillicum-Narrows-Canal-of-Camosack
