Fisherman's Wharf

Victoria is a tourist town. I quite like this and I often feel like tourist here myself since I enjoy many of the things that visitors do. One of the places where I often go is Fisherman's Wharf. As well as being home to a number of bona fide fishing boats, floating fish and seafood markets, snack bars and art galleries, it is also the site of a community of houseboats such as those pictured above. These picturesque homes are surprisingly inexpensive (compared to house prices here in Victoria). The home to the left is for sale now, priced at $199,000.

I love that green float home. I have a pic of it myself. I never made it over there to walk around, although we did stop there to let some people off on the little Harbour Tour. My fave sign "Grilligans: Where Buoy Meets Grill".

So beautiful colors of the flowers on the first shot. I like the green float home too. Nice reflection.

They've cleaned out a lot of the trashier looking float homes that used to dock there about a decade ago.

One of my favourite "theme" house boats there right now:

Also compare these to the much more upscale homes at the West Bay Marina:

The homes there will set you back bucks more in the order of a traditional Victoria home.

Beautiful! You know, I don't remember ever walking down here in the time I lived in Victoria.

One of our favorite places to stop and have fish and chips on Fisherman's Wharf. I like feeding the seals that live there. The house boats are great to see as well, love walking down there!!

My wife, Jane helped build this home (The Ziggurat) in the early 80's. It's been reconditioned and added to since but it even made it into the Times Colonist way back when. Hard to believe it's going for so much and too bad she never saw a dime for her efforts!
