Old Buildings

I've posted a few pictures of restored heritage buildings in downtown Victoria and they are quite numerous. However, there are others like this one that have been derelict for years. I suspect the reasons are economic and as such are not likely to change in the near future. One can only hope that such buildings will last until they can be brought back to life profitably. Those pictured here are on Pandora Street on the opposite side of the street from Market Square.

I wonder about the red supports, looks as if they were added? Perhaps there was structural damage? The lighting in your photos is stunning. If you ever visit my blog, your suggestions are most welcome, anytime!

I could wax lyrical about these two images all day and bore everyone to tears with why they are stand out shots. For many reasons technically and aesthetically these images are superb.

OK, these are some of your VERY best images. NO, maybe your very best. I don't know what else to say. The color in both are amazing and the composition. THe top one is so good I cannot even critique. Take a bow.

Feel like selling these? I 'll buy them both. I'm serious!

Virginia's right. You show off these derelicts like glamorous beauties. And how did you find a man with red tennies to make it even more perfect?

They look like they could be Hollywood filming facades. Wonderful compositions. 8^)

Jill, the red supports are actually to hold the wall up. I think this building was damaged by fire some time ago and the supports have been added as a safety feature until the building can be properly restored. Send me your email to: vdp AT almudo DOT fastmail DOT us or click the link on the upper right sidebar of my blog page. Then I can send you some general comments on your photos.

Babooshka - praise from a pro like you is very much appreciated. Thanks.

Virginia, You have no sense of restraint and I shall treasure you for that forever. All my images are free for non-commercial use. If you want a bigger/higher resolution versions then send me your email (see above note to Jill) and I'll be happy to send you what you like.

Petrea and Elaine, I'm glad you dropped by to see these because I was reminded of both of you when I posted these photos; Elaine - because of your many wall shots and Petrea because of this post of yours. And yes, getting the guy to wear the red tennies was hard but not so hard as training those seagulls.

Benjamin, I'll take that as a compliment. Maybe even use that as my January 1 post. This, in turn, might be yours. I'd love to find something with this kind of color, this kind of sky, this kind of...emotional depth represented by empty buildings, color and clouds.
