More Westsong Walkway

While the Westsong Walkway skirts urban residential areas throughout its route, it nevertheless offers glimpses of what the shoreline must have been like before it became urbanized. Above, evergreen arbutus and ivy and the rusty red arbutus bark make a nice contrast against the snow. Below, a picnic table waits for spring.

This tree is so pretty! I am loving the green in contrast with the white. It adds something beautiful. When I first looked at the picture I thought it was going to be a comparison one again, showing a shot from last spring. Great shot...and I love the picnic table too. That is a great shot of opposites.

I really like that gnarly tree. And the green against the snow, as Bethany wrote above, is arresting. Gorgeous light.

It was a photograph of arbutus trees that first drew me to you, Benjamin Madison. *sigh*

You will never believe this, but I was meaning to get out about two weeks ago and take a picture of this exact tree to show my friend.

Long story short: She visited me a few weeks ago and we walked by the tree in your Dec. 19th post. I said something to her about "those crazy arbutus trees"...obviously this one isn't one of the more 'crazy' arbutus examples I was thinking of.

A few days later I noticed this tree and thought to take a picture to show her what I really meant. I'll send her a link so she can finally see!

Thanks for doing the work for me!

Elaine, check out the following day's shot. I am thinking of changing the name of this blog to Arbutus Daily Photo....

Jabba - anything to oblige!
