Roses are red,
Violets are blue... except when they're yellow, like the one above. Up until recently I always thought violets were violet colored, a sort of bluish purple. The variety pictured above, however, was recently encountered in Goldstream Park and is a common native wildflower known as the Yellow Wood Violet, Stream Violet or Smooth Violet (Viola glabella).

Yellow?! Who knew? :)
Wow, that little guy really jumps out at ya!
Yellow violets? Wow, I had NO idea. I've seen white, pink and purple but never yellow.
Hey were you using a light or did the flash light up the picture?
Well, I'm glad I'm not the only one surprised by yellow violets.
JoJo - no flash - I almost never use a flash.
So you bring a light source w/ you?
No I have not graduated yet to using sources of light other than natural. Whatever the sun provides is what I generally work with.
