Street Furniture VIII - Trash Compacter

Here's an item that is probably not very popular with the seagull set but helps to keep the Inner Harbour Causeway neat even during the peak summertime tourist traffic. I'm writing here of the black box in the lower right corner of this photo. It's not just a trash container; it's a solar-powered trash compacter. There are a couple of these things along the causeway as well as some of the more typical trash containers.

Holy moly that's an amazing shot! Is that the parliament building, or am I just crazy? I love Victoria because it looks so historic and rustic. *siiigh* i love it so much!

Yes, Michaela, that is the parliament buildings, although the nomenclature police would have it that they are the "Legislative Assembly Buildings", since the "Parliament Buildings" are in Ottawa. However, since the Government of British Columbia refers to them as the "British Columbia Parliament Buildings" on their website I think either usage is acceptable.

"Legislative Assembly Buildings" does not sound as cool as the "Parliament Buildings". Just sayin'...

Last time I've been to Victoria was the age of 19. A beautiful city.
