I'll leave some room for others to answer as well. I'll just say that the guy in the lower window could be shouting, "Straight to the moon, Alice!"
Excellent tromp l'oeil. I love this art form. There's a wonderful example of this art of illusion in Washington, D.C., across from Ford's Theater where Abraham Lincoln was shot.
Like USElaine, I know who these two are, but I'll leave it to others. Though I will say, the gentleman in the bottom painting was hilarious in a wacky series of movies called "Smokey and the Bandit" among others.
Good shot, Ben, of the trompe l'oeil. I wouldn't doubt that Alice and Trixie are probably looking for them.
This certainly brings back memories of the 1950s!
"Louis la Vache"
Congratulations to USElaine, DC confidential, RAF and Louis La Vache who share those memories of Ed and Ralph with me.
For those of you who are still wondering, the two men were characters in a popular American television show during the early 1950's.
For the record, I only saw them in re-runs in the sixties. ;^)
