Morning Sun
High in an arbutus tree above Sailor's Cove, this little Belted Kingfisher (Megaceryle alcyon) perches in the morning sun while waiting for breakfast to swim into view in the waters below.

Like seeing the top branch being the Arbutus Tree bark.
I've always liked that kind of bird. Very distinctive.

Great to see this bird so close. They seem relatively rare.
They have a distinct trilling call that is not dissimilar to their cousin, the Australian Kookaburra.
