Lunar Eclipse

Once again while the rest of you were submerged in swinish slumber the Victoria Daily Photo photographers were out in the frosty pre-dawn to capture the latest celestial event, this morning's total lunar eclipse. Why is the moon red? When it passes behind the earth it is still lit by refracted sunlight which turns it red. An hour later (below) it had begun to regain its normal pearly brightness.

I was up, but all for naught - we were blessed with cloud and fog this morning. Nice catch of the reds.

I love your red moon, very nicely caught. 10/10ths cloud here in rainy Yorkshire.

It was unavailable for viewing on the east coast unfortunately. And we woke up to rain and clouds which wasn't in the forecast. Those are beautiful shots!

We got up to see it! Astronomy nerds that we are....your photos are MUCH better than ours. It was great, wasn't it? It's so rare that we get to witness such events given the weather here.
