Rooftops at Dusk

The thing about this picture is that it is so typical of Victoria in that when we left the house it was POURING rain, the kind that drenches you in minutes but then within an hour, gone. The sky, washed clean was the most intense blue. -Fern

Skyline

This is a photo that initially I disregarded but then decided to take a second look. Why? This is interesting to me. What is it that makes me come back to this one? Let's see if I can answer my own question. I think it's a combination of things; the color and rich texture of the wall on the left that until dusk would be unnoticeable but is revealed at dusk as are the clouds which contrast so sharply from the solid lines of the buildings. It's that juxtaposition of color, light and shapes that create an interesting landscape to me. - Fern

This is pretty random but I like it all the same. It's the Vancouver Island School of Art and in the evening light doesn't it look inviting? It's also exciting that I took this at exactly 5:05 which means that it's getting lighter later! - Fern

Evenings Golden Glow

On a quick little get away, we spent some time at St. Mary's Lake, on Saltspring Island. It's a short ferry ride away from Victoria but feels like a different world. See more here and here. - Fern

As the sun sets on another summer day the lights begin to glow in the twilight on Victoria's Inner Harbour Causeway. I've published photos of the Causeway after dark often but I never get tired of it.
