Rhododendron
Beacon Hill Park has a wide variety of Rhododendrons - there is even one variety that is native to Vancouver Island. I don't know what variety is pictured above but I was happy to see it beginning to bloom the other day.

Rhodies are one of my faves. It's the Washington State flower. They grow really well around here too.
I don't know if we have them here, but I've not seen them at this stage, just starting out.
Ours is budding in the front garden.
