| Looking a little lost and displaced, the center section of the Johnson Street rail bridge sits in a parking lot at the edge of the Gorge with the Bay Street Bridge in the background. It was cut loose and lifted onto a barge by the enormous marine crane that can be seen to the left. It now sits on a part of the Point Hope shipyard and I suspect it will be cut into smaller pieces there. A new bridge is to be erected adjacent to the site of the old bridge, which is still being used for car traffic. |

*sniff* The end of an era...
I can't say that I was attached to Big Blue. However, I like the suggestions that I've seen in the blogosphere that it should be used to make some sort of commemorative sculpture(s) to mark its history.
I was wondering if you were going to get a shot of this. It looks so sad sitting there by itself doesn't it?
I was also wondering if you would feature her. I've got my own post scheduled for next week, with a picture I took on the last visit.
Heartbreaking!
