Mr. Mallard

Above is probably the most common duck in this area and a year-round resident. Consequently I often ignore them because they are so tame and ubiquitous. Nevertheless Mallard Ducks (Anas platyrhynchos) of both genders are very attractive ducks. Above is a head and shoulders portrait of a Mallard drake.

I too tend to ignore them if there are more interesting geese or strange visitors to our stretch of water, but you are right the are a very nice ducks.

Beautiful shot of the mallard. I really love the sheen and color of these animals.

I do love the bright green of the drake. Very peacock-like. They are sweet ducks too.

I love the mallard! They are beautiful... and, aren’t they a “mate for life” bird? Gotta love that too. :)
