New Bridge

With all the fanfare over the new Johnson Street Bridge I have neglected to keep our visitors up to date with another new bridge that has recently been opened to traffic. Pictured above and below, this is the new Admirals Road Bridge over the Gorge near the Craigflower Schoolhouse and Manor. In the photo above, the schoolhouse is obscured by trees of Kosapsom Park on the right. Craigflower Manor is the white building directly above the bridge. This is not a new crossing but a new bridge to replace the old bridge.
While the design is simple and utilitarian I like the generous portion of the the bridge that is allocated to pedestrians and bicycles, especially in comparison to the narrow dimensions of the old bridge.

At least it doesn't look rickety like the old one did. Is there enough room for the Harbour Ferry tour boats to go under or don't they go this far?

Thanks for showing that, looks nice. Will be in Victoria sometime next week to see it in real.

I was taking sunset shots of the Gorge last week... at dusk the lights of this bridge look very picturesque with the sun setting behind and the reflection of the bridge in the water.

It's a lovely bridge. It feels like it fits into the surroundings.

I just bought a scooter and have been looking at how to get around farther from home once I am better skilled. This includes looking at bike paths for future use. Today I went over the new bridge and was awed by the forethought given to bikes and pedestrians on that bridge ~ the Bay Street Bridge is rather frightening by comparison. The whole road almost to Douglas is just a treat now and your photos do it justice.
