This old corner store is at the corner of Pandora and Camosun. Everytime I pass by I wonder how much longer it will be around. So many of us made our first forays into independence by going to the corner store, usually for bread or milk and when we were lucky, candy! However, with so many convenience stores now, many of these are closing down. - Fern

These family run stores were popular when I was a kid. They sold almost anything for for a person's daily needs at home.
Record them before it is to late. Is the inside also interesting.Like this kind of photo's.
I've been sad to see the corner stores have closed here in my old hometown as well. I can remember walking on the railroad tracks to get to the Colonial Market to buy penny candy.
I miss the "old days" when life seemed simpler and going into the "corner store" was such a wonderful experience. It was so much more than just "shopping". Great photo that brings back lots of good memories. Wondering if Benjamine is doing ok?
So true about these stores being the destinations for our earliest adventure-outings as kids. I recall knowing every twist and turn along the road and sidewalk as my bike would carry me for the three blocks to get to the neighbourhood strip mall.
I grew up on Burnside Rd, and always went into Gordon's Grocery store just down the street from our house. Just in the swinging doors to the left was the candy counter, and to me as a kid it seemed like a huge display. We spent our allowance there buying penny candy, leaving with a large brown bag full of goodies. It was a mom and pop store, and is gone now, but not the memories of it!
See that little old store is like turning back time. Hope it stays open.
