A Closer Look 7 - Murals in the Rotunda

The ceiling of the rotunda of the BC Legislative Assembly Building is decorated with four murals depicting the natural resources of the province. Top row L-R: Agriculture and Forestry. Bottom Row L-R: Mining and Fishing. These murals are of relatively recent date and replaced murals that had become controversial due to their depiction of Native Peoples. Thanks for including the link that talked about the old murals. I can see why they were considered offensive. These are much nicer.
Love it... could be displayed in Washington too... fishing, lumber jacks, apples and panning...
Just a quick note: These murals did not replace the controversial murals. Rather, they were painted at about the same time in the 1930s. The murals that depict Indigenous people in offensive ways (now covered by a false wall) are at floor level, while these ones are located high above on the ceiling.
