One of the Joys of Retirement...

...is that one no longer feels compelled even to think about engaging in such behavior. However, despite the bitterly cold wind and icy waters near Clover Point, this fellow seems to be enjoying himself, or at least surviving. I braved the elements long enough to snap this photo. Then, feeling sympathetic hypothermia, I retired quickly to the nearest Starbucks for a hot beverage treatment.

Brr... I can imagine how cold it must be... I'd love to think that I'm brave enough to try that.

I've never been a cold water person, but the cool weather certainly makes the warm coffee that much more of a pleasure.

My inner Pollyanna likes to have her say, every so often.

I'm glad you braved the cold for a few minutes to capture this moment! Goodness it looks cold there. That fella is certainly a brave one!

Hopefully the shot was worth the potential hypothermia. I had to take an extra swig from my Starbucks Tall Drip to keep from shivering.

I can so imagine the joy of this man doing whatever and whenever he likes during the day, as he does not have to think about work any more!! I have to confess: just like me!

I sort of feel like I must be missing a lot by not being a thrill seeker. But if it comes to a choice between being dragged across the briny by a kite in November and lolling around a coffee shop, well, there is no choice.

I could have a month's vacation in Mexico for the cost of the dry suit.

No way Jose! I like it like bath water or I don't go in. Actually nobody wants to see me in a swimsuit anymore so it's really not a problem. I LOVE retirement by the way.

Oh and don't let Wayne fool ya. HE's a thrill seeker everytime he opens his mouth! :)

Another great image. I'd like to give this a go, they do a bit of it down at our local beach, but it does appear to be a young man's (and woman's) game!
