Kiteboarding
On sunny days if there is any wind at all you can almost always find kiteboarders in the bay that lies off Dallas Road between Clover and Finlayson Points.

Kite-Surfers
A bright windy day brought kite-surfers out to the bay between Clover Point and Finlayson Point (just visible on the right). I took the photo from the walkway along Dallas Road above the beach.

Kitesurfing
Birds are not the only thing in the waters off Clover Point these days. When the sun broke through on Friday the blustery winds attracted some kitesurfers, one of whom is pictured above. Now this looks like fun but this guy must have been cold. Despite the lovely aquamarine tinge of the water, the wind was icy. Kitesurfing is on the verge of becoming an Olympic sport. People have kitesurfed across the Atlantic.

Kitesurfing at Clover Point Park
Last week I mentioned that because Clover Point Park gets a lot of wind, it is popular with wind-driven sports. Today's photo and video is of an extreme sport with growing popularity called Kitesurfing.

One of the Joys of Retirement...
...is that one no longer feels compelled even to think about engaging in such behavior. However, despite the bitterly cold wind and icy waters near Clover Point, this fellow seems to be enjoying himself, or at least surviving. I braved the elements long enough to snap this photo. Then, feeling sympathetic hypothermia, I retired quickly to the nearest Starbucks for a hot beverage treatment.
