Welcome to Samarkand!

This exotic looking skyscape is actually on Victoria's Herald Street, just off Douglas Street, downtown. I don't know what this building originally was - I suspect it was an Indian Restaurant, but it now is the office of a youth program. The photo below shows the building in context and exposes a little bit more of Victoria's downtown. The skyhook visible on the top right is being used to rebuild The Hudson, subject of an earlier post.

That's Victoria alright. Like I say, you could shoot a canon down the middle of the road and you wouldn't hit anybody.

I like the exotic flourish. Makes all those square boxes rethink themselves.

Thank you Babooshka and Elaine.

Wayne, now you've gone and hurt my feelings. I was patting myself on the back because there are actually three living people (count 'em!), not to speak of the approaching vehicle with its headlights on there in the distance.

Duly chastised. You're right Benjamin, it's downright hectic for Victoria.

Wow! Such a peaceful & quiet scene on a main thoroughfare! I really like all the details on the buildings! You live in such a beautiful city!
