Who would do such a thing! And in Canada of all places!
Yes, thankfully one doesn't see too much of this. Canadian drivers in general are probably not much different from their American counterparts but car drivers in Victoria really are outstanding when it comes to giving way to pedestrian traffic. I often see tourists quite stunned by the way all the traffic squeals to a halt as soon as they step off the sidewalk. Traffic is maybe not quite so responsive to cyclists, perhaps because they are neither pedestrian nor motor vehicle but something in between, so there is some confusion. They don't quite have the rights of pedestrians nor do they have the visibility or deterrent armor of another car.
Well it's public art now.
It looks like it was hit while it was locked to the pole. I hope. Oh dear.
Perhaps I'm just the unfeeling cynical type, but this photo just made me burst out laughing! I think it was your understated title!
Wayne, it was only public for one day - either the owner or his/her surviving relatives removed it.
Petrea, no it must have been hit, run over and dragged nearby or the pole would have been damaged. It was located where the bike route crosses the driveway of a luxury hotel and my guess is that it happened right there. Now whether the rider was damaged or not I do not know.
Saretta - me too re unfeeling and cynical - I snickered when I saw it locked so securely to the pole - as if someone would bother stealing it.

I know that it is terrible and all, but this kind of amused me.

I love this quirky photography. Bikes and photography go hand in hand, but I don;t hink I've seen one a striking as this image.
Kris, you and I are headed right there together. I am still laughing. This is great. I know, I know, someone might have been injured but I agree with Petrea. That sucker got blindsided while in bondage. Bike rage???
