Langford Street

The bloom on Langford Street is just beginning. These blossoms are quite different from the hot pink blooms posted yesterday.

Finally!

Well, though it is now officially springtime, winter has not quite loosened its grip. The blossoms, however, will not be put off. I photographed these today on Skinner Street in Vic West. The blossoming plums that line Langford Street look like they will burst into bloom tomorrow or the next day.

Blossom Explosion

Victoria is blessed with a large number of blossoming trees and they are now bursting into glorious bloom. Forgive me for passing along only half of the experience. The wonderfully sweet and spicy scent of these blooms is fully as intoxicating as their appearance.

Skinner Street

Once again some of the earliest in the city, here are the trees lining Skinner Street in Vic West.

It's Those Pink Things Again....

A few days of warm rain and the trees are bursting into bloom. It seems like it's a few days later than last year - Skinner Street was a blossom riot on the 9th of February last year. I'll get over there later today.

More Blossoms

Can you ever have enough blossoms? I can't at this time of year. This was taken in one of my favorite neighborhoods, Fernwood. - Fern

Streetlight

With the beautiful warm weather Victoria has been having our slightly late spring has gone into overdrive with blossoming trees that seem to light up the streets more brilliantly than mere sunlight can do. Here's one in James Bay that I particularly like.

Plum Blossom

Well, I promised I'd produce a better shot of the plum blossoms when the wind died down, so here it is. I'll probably do another in a few days when the trees are fully in bloom.

Windy Blossom Riot

Well, it's a wet and windy morning here in Victoria but the Japanese Flowering Plums think it's spring. Every year I say a silent thanks to the people who decided long ago to line Victoria's streets with these trees that burst into bloom every March. They're just starting now but in a few days they will explode into pink popcorn balls of blossoms. And, when the wind stops blasting in from the Pacific Ocean, I will post a more placid view of these wonderful flowering trees. You'll just have to imagine how sweet they smell on a quiet sunny day.
