The Homecoming
There is a small open space overlooking Ship Point that is dedicated to the Navy and this statue, The Homecoming, is its centerpiece. It depicts that magical moment when the sailor comes home from the sea to the loving arms of his family. It's a statue that strikes a chord in most passersby, even those of us who have never been in the navy. We all know what it is like to be separated from those we love and the joy of reunion. The sculptor is Nathan Scott.

Zoubi and the Sea
There's lots of buskers around these days but there are also many other musicians participating in The run-up to Canada Day and Canada's 150th anniversary celebrations. Here is one group, Zoubi and the Sea, that I caught on the Ship Point Stage yesterday.

Victoria Harbour Airport
In the background of yesterday's photo of the paper boats you can see the roof of this building, the new Victoria Harbour Airport. It's just for seaplane traffic that comes into the harbour. Victoria's International Airport for large passenger planes is about a half-hour drive outside the city on the Saanich Peninsula. We'll take a look inside the new Harbour Airport tomorrow.

Paper Boats
I quite like the whimsy that has installed these giant paper boats down on Ship Point. While I sat nearby and prepared to take some photos, pretty well every child that came by felt the invitation to romp around on these.

Blues Bash
Labour Day Weekend saw the Inner Harbour hosting two major events, the musical event Blues Bash and the Classic Boat Festival. Above is a shot of Auntie Kate and the Uncles of Funk performing on Sunday afternoon. We'll have a look at the Classic Boats over the next few days.

Invader
I like everything about this super-yacht except its name, Invader, which seems a bit aggressive to me. However, I guess if you've got the millions needed to buy this kind of ship then you can name it whatever you like. Invader has been moored at Ship Point for some time now on the opposite side of the Ship Point Pier from the Zenith, our other resident super-yacht.
