Scotch Broom (Cytisus scoparius)

This is the same rocky Dallas Road Beach just below Beacon Hill as in yesterday's photo but from the top of the cliff. I took it to feature the bright yellow flowering shrub in the foreground known as Scotch Broom (Cytisus scoparius). It's not a local plant and was introduced for nostalgic reasons by a Scottish settler in the 19th century. It's classed as a noxious, invasive species but there's no denying its brilliant yellow blossoms are a joy to behold.
