Norwegian Pearl

It's that time of year again, when these vast floating hotels nudge their way into their berths at Ogden Point (on the left) to give their passengers a few hours in Victoria. This one is called the Norwegian Pearl. The mountains in the background are on the Olympic Peninsula in the USA.

We are expecting a lot of traffic around Stockholm this summer, many big boats are skipping the Russian ports because of the Ukraine situation.

Nice shot! My bff from college is headed up there on a cruise with her family to celebrate her 50th and her mom's 75th bdays. But she said they'll only be in Victoria from 6 pm till almost midnight.

When I look at the wondrous Juan de Fuca Strait, I think of this:

The Lotos-eaters
BY ALFRED, LORD TENNYSON
"Courage!" he said, and pointed toward the land,
"This mounting wave will roll us shoreward soon."
In the afternoon they came unto a land
In which it seemed always afternoon.
All round the coast the languid air did swoon,
Breathing like one that hath a weary dream.
