Swan Lake

It's pretty hard to top the drama and color of the Fisgard Lighthouse (yesterday's post) so here's a look at a more muted bit of Victoria's scenery. This is Swan Lake, a nature sanctuary in the midst of urban Victoria. At this time of year it's a study in the browns and reds that are relics of autumn. To the right is a photo taken from nearly the same spot in May.

    It really was the sky that 'made' yesterday's shot.
    How do you get such contrast between the clouds and the blue of the sky,.. polarizing filter?

    Have you heard of the campaign to save Mary Lake in the Highlands area of Victoria? It looks like a beautiful area to photograph.

    Beautiful! Swan Lake is one place in Victoria I have never been to. Have to check it out one day!
