I thought I would try some backyard birding so here's what I was able to attract with a bit of bird seed this morning. This is another member of the sparrow family, called the Dark-eyed Junco or the Oregon Junco. Above is a male - the females are not so brightly colored or distinctive so I can't be quite so sure about the identification of the bird on the right, though she was hanging out with a bunch of male juncos and fits the description of a female of the species. |

Juncos are cute.
ReplyDeleteGet a feeder going in your yard Benjamin and you'll have no end of great subjects. Sunflower seeds and peanuts will bring in some bigger guys.
Just recalled another beauty I've seen in town: the Varied Thrush, looks sort of like a large Robin, but with beautiful orange and black striping.
Hello. Liked the photos are of nature. You have what you photograph beautiful nature. Best regards.
ReplyDeleteBenjamin, I'm imagining you prone on the ground behind some home-made reedy duck blind, camera lens poking through to capture these fantastic shots. I've put feeders front and back, and still cannot capture these quick moving critters the way I'd like. They certainly don't cooperate with trying to stay in the best light :-). You've shown show amazing bird and squirrel shots, and I love seeing these beautiful, delightful creatures. It is relaxing/peaceful just to see their photos. I can imagine watching them live has made for some pleasant outdoor time for you.
