More Snow

Well, I tried to get out today but didn't get much further than yesterday. It's cold enough to make the snow squeak and crunch when you walk through it. The picture looks peaceful but there's a wicked wind blowing.

  1. I love the sound and feel of squeaking-type snow, but only if I'm completely and thoroughly dressed for it. Not having an ounce of body fat, you probably have to invest in far more layers.

I was going to start making recommendations until I realized all the animal exploitation involved with them. Silk, wool, goose down. You just better stay inside.

  3. I love the colors too. I remember that kind of fresh snow from my childhood.

  4. We got about 15cm up here on Gabriola.

The blue in this image is amazing. How'd you do that?

    Cheers!

  5. Almost otherworldly. I miss squeaking snow down here in Virginia.

  6. Sorry, I know your beliefs are sincere. That was wee hours talking.

  7. Sounds like you have never lived on the prairies! Hope that your next photos will show some of that green grass Victoria should have beneath this.

  8. Thanks all for your kind remarks.

Snapper, sounds like you got more than we did. The blue comes from the White Balance setting for tungsten lighting - to balance the normally yellow cast of street lights. Also, it's a long exposure (30 seconds).

Elaine, my skin doesn't keep me warm these days but after 30 years as a vegetarian it's quite thick when it comes to slings and arrows. I interpreted your remark as a friendly jest so no need to apologize.

Frenkie/Nick: I was born in Winnipeg, and spent my childhood in Churchill, Prince Albert and Saskatoon - your remark made me remember how we used to get felt boots and breeches in the fall. Does anyone still wear felt boots in the winter?
