Venus Sophia

Yesterday's window seat photos were taken while I was waiting for my lunch to be served in Venus Sophia, a delightfully comfortable restaurant/tea parlor in the heart of Chinatown. It manages to hold its own though surrounded by a dozen Asian restaurants, probably because it is as good as it is different. You can see my lunch below and it was delicious. I eat there fairly often and am never disappointed.

Chinatown Sidewalk Grocers

I was down to our Chinatown on Thursday for lunch at Venus Sophia - Tearoom and Vegetarian Eatery. See the sign in the top left of the photo above. Lunch there was, as usual, absolutely delicious. It's a great place to eat if you're in the neighborhood. Even on a gray winter day the colorful produce spilling out onto Chinatown's sidewalks gives a summery atmosphere to the street.

Brie Mango Avocado Quesadilla

As well as being home to obligatory half dozen Chinese restaurants Victoria's Chinatown is also where our newest vegetarian eatery is located. It's the Venus Sophia Tearoom & Vegetarian Eatery. And yes, I ate the extraordinary Brie Mango Avocado Quesadilla pictured above down to the last crumb. I've lunched here several times now and have always been pleased with the food and the ambience. It's classy and comfortable without being expensive. The soups are superb and everything else I've eaten there has been very good. I recommend it highly.
