Mallard Ducks (Anas platyrhynchos)

Here's a kind of duck I too often ignore because they are so common and live here all year round. They are Mallard Ducks (Anas platyrhynchos), the female on the left above and the male on the right. They are a widespread species and one that has adapted well to living around humans - that's why we see so many of them. They are attractive ducks and it is always a pleasure to see them peacefully dabbling in the shallows.

I see them all the time too and never think to shoot pics of them, although I do love the shimmery green feathers on the male.

Lovely shots!

I see a lot of them as well, though as of yet I haven't been close enough to one to get a proper shot.

How about a nice pic of the causeway showing the Empress and Parliament grounds so we Albertans who are covered in 6 inches of snow can see what it look like out there this November long weekend? Please :)

Thanks all for your comments.

@Matthew Feehan - Check in on Tuesday - I'll see if I can get downtown before then and snap a few more urban pics.
