Blacktail Doe (Odocoileus hemionus columbianus)

While on my way out to Witty's Lagoon the other day I couldn't resist stopping to photograph this lovely Blacktail Doe browsing in the bushes at the edge of the road. She's still a little thin, probably from feeding one or two fawns but is now concentrating on fattening herself up for winter.

It's almost as if she wanted you to take her photo. She doesn't look a bit shy.

We have lots of tame deer in our city too. Nice shot.

Beautiful. Are they a bit bigger than the whitetail deer we have on this side of the continent? I'll have to check...

Ah, size seems to favour the white tailed version.

She is looking rather thin with her ribs showing. We have lots of deer here.
