Walking through a temperate rain forest like Thetis Lake Regional Park is like being inside a complex network of immense and ancient beings whose interwoven muscles and sinews provide the steps and hand holds along the paths. One is completely surrounded and immersed in this living web. I always find myself speaking in a whisper so as not to profane the profoundly slow and peaceful conversation of the forest.

Gorgeous. I love your rain forest shots. They're so vibrant and colorful. And, in this case, those trees roots look like they could come to life any second.
The temperate rainforests are so lush and peaceful. I especially like visiting when it's pouring rain. And you have to love the banana slug.
I'm reminded of whales, the largest animals on earth, swimming peacefully through the oceans and eating krill, one of the smallest.

Jack Handey of Deep Thoughts had this to say:
' If trees could scream, would we be so cavalier about cutting them down? We might, if they screamed all the time, for no good reason.'
Fabulous shot! Love it.
Your shot of the forest is terrific. It seems to be full of life.
Absolutely beautiful. It does look like those roots will come to life and start moving at any minute.
So beautiful.
What a truly beautiful photo. The colours are amazing - we're so lucky to live in a wonderful place like Victoria, with such diverse scenery. Thank you Benjamin for all your photos.
