Bus Stop 2

Many of our bus stops are graced with shelters like that pictured here, where one can stand or sit out of the rain and wind while waiting for the bus. In this neighborhood buses come about every 45 minutes, a little more often in the morning and late afternoon and less often in the late evening. Bus service runs from around six in the morning until about 10:30 at night. Here is a link to BC Transit Schedules and routes online. Adults pay $2.50 to ride the bus. Seniors (over 65) and school age children pay $1.65. Children aged six and under ride free. Monthly passes are available that offer discounted rates.

In SF they removed all the reguarl benches from the shelters and put up very narrow benches that fold up as soon as you stand up. That was done to keep transients from sleeping on them.

Hey, Benjamin, here's a potential idea for a photo series for you, if you're ever looking for inspiration.

Spend a day simply riding the buses and see what sorts of photos you can get. People riding the bus, shots from the bus of the passing scenery that sort of thing. You'd probably get some interesting pics from the top of the double-deckers.

FWIW...

I love the first shot. Very cool. Hey Benjamin -- please come and take some pics of Fernwood!

These bus stop pictures are very interesting; a departure from your usual perspective. I love the abstract quality of them. Keep them coming! .

Interesting, ..appears a crayon-laden artist drew a silhouette from the cast shadow, resulting in a combo/juxtaposition of 2D and 3D.
Photos containing the shadow of the actual camera guy are almost a genre unto themself.

JoJo - did that work?

Thanks for the idea Mike - I do have one more bus posting planned but had not thought about doing what you suggested.

Angela, I'm very fond of Fernwood - I lived there when I was a student - and as soon as the weather warms up....

Thanks Fern.

Dean - that crayon silhouette was what interested me about this photo. As for my shadow - I usually try to keep it out of the pic but decided to leave it in here.

It seemed to work, for a little while anyway. Then the transients just moved to the nearest doorways, or camped out in front of city hall.
