M.V. Coho

Since Victoria is on an island, you have either to take a plane or a boat to get here. The BC Ferries Corporation operates ferries to Vancouver and the Gulf islands from their Swartz Bay terminal about forty minutes drive north of Victoria. However, you can come by boat directly to the Inner Harbor from Port Angeles, on the Olympic Peninsula, on the ship that is pictured here, the M. V. Coho. It's a car ferry that travels back and forth twice daily. There is another regular ferry for passengers only called the Clipper that travels between Victoria's Inner Harbor and Seattle. Above we see the Coho leaving Victoria Harbor on its last trip for the day.

It occurs to me that I can't visit Canada until I get my passport renewed. Which means getting a current photo of myself, etc. Bummer.

Swartz Bay, not Schwartz. Schwartz is that mysterious power from space.

Thanks all for your kind comments.

Elaine, you've got lots of time to get that photo - nobody in their right mind visits Canada between September and June. If you get the wanderlust go to Arizona or Florida - they're full of Canadians at this time of year.

Corey, thanks for the correction. I deeply believe my error was caused by that mysterious power from space.

I took my car on the MV Coho once years ago. You drive on and then go in big loop because vehicles unload through the same door at the other terminal.

That little ferry, relatively speaking, has been a fixture of the Inner Harbour for, what seems like, ever.

Nice pic Benjamin.

Living on an island I know the plane/boat scenario all too well. Don't get such a stunning sunset though as often as this.

Great Coho photo. They don't make graceful-looking ships like that anymore.
