Worth a Second Look 2

Here's a photo I don't think I've posted on this blog though it's been on my wall for a couple of years. It's a street scene taken on Douglas Street in downtown Victoria in 2014. I think if you look closely you'll soon see why I like this photo.

  1. Not sure about this one. I have difficulty taking pictures of anonymous strangers unless they're performing or something. That's my problem, not yours.

  2. The fellow pushing the baby stroller isn't quite what you'd expect.

  3. Hi Benjamin.
The Internet is filled with deceased photo-blogs where the publisher, for whatever reason, abandoned it. In a lot of cases, I think they just grew discouraged with the time commitment.
In the early days of my blog, I published daily, but found it to be an enormous challenge. Now I publish just three times a week.
Even that can be hard to do though as I'm busy with so many things. So, a few years ago, I came up with the idea of a periodic Wayback Wednesday where I will re-visit a previous photo in my blog. In some cases, I may take a new photo that updates the story behind a previous photo.
Another useful practice is to feature the photos of fellow photographers. Typically, I post a sample with a link back to their page and a write up about their work and why it appeals to me. I admit that I don't always get their permission to use the photo in advance, but I never publish an unsourced or uncredited photo. Maybe this practice would work for you if you find yourself getting overwhelmed.
    Happy trails...

  4. Thanks all for your kind comments.

@Furry - I know how you feel. Generally I too am a little shy about taking photos of strangers in public, but sometimes such as in today's photo, I just can't resist.

@William - Yes, rather than "a second look" I think this photo requires a double or even triple take.

@Mike - Thanks for legitimizing my recent train of thought. I think for now I'm going to post some older photos just from time to time when to relieve the pressure of daily postings.
