Crystal Garden

Here's another building designed by Victorian architect Francis Rattenbury, who also designed The Empress Hotel. This is the Crystal Garden, formerly a swimming pool and recreation centre and now a part of the Victoria Conference Centre.

  1. It was great as a conservatory/ garden with fish, birds and other small animals. We went there frequently with our kids, particularly in the middle of a grey winter to renew and refresh the spirit.

Unfortunately a dim-witted, short-sighted local commission closed it and it became a... money-losing conference centre. The obvious choice for a great big GREENHOUSE... :(

  2. It's a pity I never took the time to go inside. I could kick myself for not seeing the Royal BC museum too.
