Here, to conclude a mycological week, is another fungi we are all familiar with, the
Common Puffball (Lycoperdon perlatum). These are very tasty when young - the one pictured here is getting to be too ripe to eat. Soon it will develop a little hole in its top and when disturbed by as little as a falling raindrop it will emit a brown puff of spores.
