The Hippo and the Whale

Here's another sign that summer is upon us - those floating bus tours called the Hippo. These buses look pretty big on the street but next to leviathan they seem more like shrimp than hippos. Victoria Hippo Tours seem perfectly appropriate for a city that has so much to offer both on land and on the water.

  1. This brings back great memories of my circumnavigation of Australia on board Princess cruises.

  2. Oh wow that is one huge ship! It's like a floating city! I don't remember the hippo tour when I was last there in 2010 and I'm not so sure I'd take a ride on an aqua bus.

  3. @Margaret - circumnavigation of Australia - that must have been a fascinating trip.

@JoJo - You're right - there were no Hippo tours here before 2012. Before that they operated in Toronto. Seattle has a similar excursion called The Duck which has been popular for quite a while.

  4. We have the same sort of aquatic bus here, called Ducks.

That cruise ship is just too big, too overwhelming.

  5. There are duck tour boats in Hyannis too but i haven't been on one yet.

  6. This illustrates how ridiculously huge those cruise ships are. I have enjoyed river cruises with 150 - 200 passengers, but I will NEVER take a cruise on a vessel like that!!!
