Is that the only observatory in the Victoria area? If so, my old friend Nigel worked there for awhile. He's an astrophysicist and currently works up in the Boston area, but he has fond memories of his time on the island and going to The Sticky Wicket.
ReplyDeleteHi JoJo, Your friend probably worked at the other observatory here, the Dominion Astrophysical Observatory. It is still a working observatory while the Gonzales Observatory in today's photo is not longer in use as an observatory. The Dominion Observatory is pictured here:http://victoriadailyphoto.blogspot.ca/2009/08/victoria.html.
ReplyDeleteReally like the composition of this, how the sky, quite appropriately is such a major/dominant element.
ReplyDeleteAnd what beautiful hue and smooth graduation of tone. I can just feel what a clear day it must have been.
Quite an impressive shot, Benjamin!
