What a great view! The name of the park gives rise to the question if there are any bears on the island? I know they probably wouldn't be anywhere near the southern end, but what about the rugged interior and north?
ReplyDelete@JoJo - I'd be a bit surprised to see a bear on Bear Hill but Vancouver Island as a whole has one of the densest bear populations in the world - estimated currently at around 7,000. Most, thankfully, prefer to live in areas that are not heavily populated by people. Fern and I visited Goldstream Park yesterday and I noticed there are signs there warning visitors of possible bear encounters. Goldstream Park is only about 10 miles from Victoria.
ReplyDeleteYesterday was a great day to be on a hill! It was fantastically clear and a great day to catch photos of Mt. Baker and the mountains of Washington.
ReplyDeleteNow that's a smashing view!
