Highland Games 2

There is a brutal simplicity to the sports at the Highland Games that I admire. Basically the sports seem to consist of very large men in kilts throwing very heavy weights. Above and to the left are two examples but there are several others where the weights are differently shaped. Sometimes it is how far you can throw the weight horizontally (above photo) and other times it is how high you can throw it (left photo).

  1. Never seen the sport of throwing something up high like that before. Probably a good thing that they use kilt AND underwear here!

  2. Oh this was at Topaz Park? I stayed at the Holiday Inn across the street from it back in 2007!

  3. Great freeze-frame capture of the thrower with his feet right off the ground.
A slow shutter-speed of 1/30 or lower might have created some blurr-motion effect also.

  4. Where there are Scotts there are Highland games. Great captures, next perhaps tossing the caber ?
