Once again while the rest of you were submerged in swinish slumber the Victoria Daily Photo photographers were out in the frosty pre-dawn to capture the latest celestial event, this morning's
total lunar eclipse. Why is the moon red? When it passes behind the earth it is still lit by refracted sunlight which turns it red. An hour later (below) it had begun to regain its normal pearly brightness.
I was up, but all for naught - we were blessed with cloud and fog this morning. Nice catch of the reds.
ReplyDeleteStunning! You are the jedi master of photography.
ReplyDeleteI love your red moon, very nicely caught. 10/10ths cloud here in rainy Yorkshire.
ReplyDeleteIt was unavailable for viewing on the east coast unfortunately. And we woke up to rain and clouds which wasn't in the forecast. Those are beautiful shots!
ReplyDeleteYour photos are stunning. Thanks for waiting out the chill so we could see these fantastic photos.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful to the nth degree! We had a solid cloud cover blow in at 05:49 .. wah, wah... it was all over but the shouting.
ReplyDeleteAs you always make, superb!
ReplyDeleteWe got up to see it! Astronomy nerds that we are....your photos are MUCH better than ours. It was great, wasn't it? It's so rare that we get to witness such events given the weather here.
ReplyDeleteAt first glance I thought: "Wow, impressive shots of Mars..." My WTF moment of the day...
