Willows Beach Sunrise

I've been thinking that I might get some better sunrise shots if I rode over to the eastern side of the city so I did that this morning. Though the mornings are getting chilly, it was well worth the trip. Here is the first of a series of photos of sunrise at Willows Beach in Oak Bay. Here we are looking towards Oak Bay, facing southwest.

  2. You've done it again Benjamin. Terrific!
And again, almost a trademark technique for you, the key positioning of the dawn light to the side showing the transition of day, with just the right measure of darkness and building lights to suggest night.
    Love it!

  3. Breathtaking!! It must be so peaceful there at that time in the morning!

  4. .. and if I'm not mistaken, that beautiful single beam of light in the centre reflected off the water is attached to the crane working on the site of the old Oak Bay Beach Hotel. Often a single, even small element of extreme light and dark is what gives an image that 'full' or complete spectrum quality.
