Common Merganser (Mergus merganser americanus). At first I was disappointed but each time I went through the days' photos I became more and more enamoured of the image above. The bird herself came out from behind the reeds a half a minute later and displayed herself as below.
Below is a pair of Common Mergansers with the male in the foreground. All these photos were taken at Swan Lake Nature Sanctuary.

ReplyDeleteYours (or anyone's) best photos often succeed best because they combine the interest of a well captured subject with the elements/composition/detail of a cool or intriguing abstractness such as the reeds shot has.
