Pigeons

I often remark on seagulls and post their pictures here but above is another city-dwelling bird. In this city, however, they are far outnumbered by seagulls. These are Rock Pigeons (Columba livia). This group was scrabbling for bread crumbs some kind soul had scattered in front of the Salvation Army building at the bottom of Johnson Street.

  1. Yes I guess they are everywhere. I have doves in a little tree outside my window everyday scrambling for the dry cat food I put in a feeder for the blackbirds. They were becoming so numerous that I had to cut out feeding for a few weeks until most of them left. But I love to photograph them peering in at me as I sit at my computer. :-)
