Giant Seaplane

Quite aside from the artist's refreshing disregard for scale and perspective, there is something appealingly sinister about this giant seaplane mural. The black windows remind me of that cult movie classic about the crazed trailer truck that pursues a poor motorist (Dennis Weaver?)across a nightmare superhighway landscape.

Thanks to our Willits correspondent for the title of the above film, "Duel"

  4. "Vanishing Point" is the movie title. Sinister indeed.

  5. Nope, I lied. "Duel" is the one with the evil truck and Dennis Weaver.

  6. Yes, Duel is the one I was thinking of - I couldn't remember the title.

Destitute, I await your mural with interest.

Kris: yes, on the side of a hotel - those little posts actually decorate the edge of the seawall walkway or causeway that goes all around the inner harbour and in front of this particular hotel. The seaplane terminal is just to the right of the photo, on the seaward side of the hotel.
