The leaves are going now but with the cool damp weather the mosses are thriving. Before I posted this I did a little research to see if I could find out what killed the children, without any luck. There was also a terrible smallpox epidemic in Victoria in 1862. The Cridges only married in 1855 so the children must have been quite young and could have been carried off by any of a great number of childhood diseases such as scarlet fever, measles, whooping cough, etc. But for whatever reason, to lose four in a year must have been devastating for both parents.Benjamin Madisonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10557453060872726741noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5583858833715089401.post-37762368440473537122008-10-17T12:57:00.000-07:002008-10-17T12:57:00.000-07:00This list reiterates lists found elsewhere on the ...This list reiterates lists found elsewhere on the web. It indicates a worldwide flu epidemic from 1857-59, so this could have been the tail end of that.USelainehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15551995221350532168noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5583858833715089401.post-5637286996899643202008-10-17T12:41:00.000-07:002008-10-17T12:41:00.000-07:00All the colors and textures are just gorgeous. My first guess would be that it was a flu epidemic, but it could be so many other things.USelainehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15551995221350532168noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5583858833715089401.post-51143530239973527472008-10-17T08:55:00.000-07:002008-10-17T08:55:00.000-07:00Historical cathedral in autumn,I feel calm and bea...Historical cathedral in autumn,I feel calm and beauty.nobuhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10975863824431595162noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5583858833715089401.post-78664297315357432932008-10-17T08:29:00.000-07:002008-10-17T08:29:00.000-07:00Old graveyards tell such interesting stories.
